COLONEL SONJA PRITCHETT
DIRECTOR OF DETENTION
Sonja M. Pritchett is a native of Mobile, Alabama and a graduate of John L. Leflore Magnet High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Alabama State University, and graduated in May 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a goal of obtaining her master's degree in Organizational Leadership with Concentration in Criminal Justice by fall 2019.
Sonja has served as a public servant for 13 years in the correctional profession. She progressed through the ranks at the Montgomery County Detention Facility where she began her career in 2006. She was appointed as the Director on April 8, 2019.
Since her promotion, Colonel Pritchett has expanded training for correctional personnel and has increased programming and services for the men and women confined to the facility.
As Director, Sonja's main goal has been maintaining care, custody and control of the inmate population in a therapeutic aspect to prepare them for a successful re-entry into society.
